Things to learn from Hanuman Ji
There’s much to learn from one of the greatest warriors of all time, Hanuman Ji. Known for his strength, wisdom, courage, and various other qualities, he is a treasure trove to learn many practical lessons. The list is endless but I have tried to mention some of them.
- Devotion: It is just incredible to see the level of faith Hanuman ji has for Shri Ram, which empowers him to harness great confidence in anything he does. It is this devotion that makes him do even the impossible, be it going all the way to Lanka to search for Sita Maa or going all the way from Lanka to the Himalayas in search of Sanjeevani. Devotion gives strength, it drives the divine and power within.
- Humility: Hanuman Ji is all-powerful. He has the blessings of Brahma Ji, Indra Dev, Agni Dev, Vayu Dev, Surya Dev, and many other devtas. He is Vayuputra Hanuman. He has eight siddhis and nine nidhis. There is no parallel to his capability, wisdom, and strength. But, he always remains humble and grounded. Pride is nowhere near him. He has conquered the vices of overconfidence and remains committed to his purpose: to serve his master, Shri Ram.
- Pragmatism: When Lakshman ji was grievously injured and it was necessary to bring Sanjeevani from the Himalayas, Hanuman ji immediately went for it. When he was in a dilemma to decide and confirm the identity of Sanjeevani, he took a decision that can be attributed as highly practical. He knew that he can’t go back without fulfilling the mission objective. He brought the whole mountain of Dronagiri all the way back. This helped in saving the life of Lakshman ji.
- Adaptability: When Hanuman ji and others reached the south point, a lot of discussion was being held as to how anyone will cross the sea, reach Lanka, get the required information and meet Sita Maa. It is at this time when Jaamvanth reminded Hanuman ji of the incredible powers he had in his childhood but he forgot due to the curse of a sage, and how he should use them in order to cross the sea. Hanuman Ji immediately adapted to the change and was ready to go for the task. This shows how Hanuman Ji is not resistant to change and is ready to evolve as per the situation and task.
- Creative improvisations: When he met Ravan, he conveyed the message of Shri Ram and told him that he should surrender. When Ravan tried to burn his tail, Hanuman Ji waited for some time, got the information about Lanka while he was being paraded, and then finally showed his power and burnt the Lanka.
6. Flexibility: Hanuman Ji knew when to use a needle and when to use a sword.
sookshma roop dhari siyahi dikhawa, vikat roop dhari lanka jarawa
bheem roop dhari asur sanhare, Ram Chandra ke kaaj saware
Hanuman Ji knows that different situations demand different ways of tackling them. When he goes to meet Sita Maa, he is gentle and small. When he burns down the whole of Lanka and destroys the army of Raavan, he does so in a fierce form befitting the act. When he meets Vibhishan, he adopts a tone of friendship. What Hanuman Ji did at that time, today is known as effective diplomacy.
Hanuman Ji is an endless source of learning. The more you get to know about him, the more you learn. May he protect all of us and show us the right direction.
Jai Bajrang Bali!
